Iron ?

This rock was found near Glenwood City WI. It is highly magnetic and sets off my Metal detector. I am not familiar with different types of rock but I love collecting them.

Iron deposits are are common in northern Wisconsin, mostly from banded ironstone. There were iron mining operations in Wisconsin in the past. Now lake Superior mining is mostly in Minnesota. Hematite, jaspilite, magnetite, and taconite are also iron ores. Your find looks banded in the photo. Glenwood City is not in the area where mining has been done but there may be deposits near there. It also could have been transported from the north by glaciers or people.
